SUMBANGAN AL-KHAWARIZMI KEPADA DUNIA
Nama sebenar Al-Khawarizmi ialah Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Musa al-Khawarizmi. Selain dipanggil al-Khawarizmi, beliau juga terkenal dengan gelaran Abu Abdullah. Namun di Barat, Al-Khawarizmi dikenali sebagai al-Cowarizmi, al-Ahawizmi al-Karismi, al-Goritmi, al-Gorismi dan beberapa cara ejaan lain.Beliau dilahirkan pada tahun 780M di daerah Khawarizmi yang sekarang dikenali sebagai Khiwa. Ibu bapa beliau berhijrah ke sebuah kawasan di Selatan Baghdad. Beliau meninggal dunia pada tahun 840 Masihi.[1]
